Homekey+ NOFA Amendments Extend Application
Deadline and Prioritize Veteran-Serving Projects
The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is pleased to release a number of amendments to the Homekey+ Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA).
The amendments allow HCD to continue accepting Homekey+ applications for all eligible project types on a continuous over the counter basis until all funds have been exhausted.
HCD and the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) are pleased with the interest in the veterans’ portion of the Homekey+ allocation to date, however as significant funding for this critical population is available, all applications received after the release of the amendment will be prioritized based on the inclusion of veteran-serving units. HCD and CalVet are also pleased to offer additional operating support for veteran-serving projects by providing an additional operating award of $30,000 per veteran-serving unit.
Other changes include increased flexibility on threshold requirements, additional time to submit required resolutions, as well as clarifying amendments regarding the applicability of negative points.
Homekey+ is funded in large part by Proposition 1, passed by California voters in March 2024, and provides funding to local public entities and co-applicant partners to develop permanent supportive housing for veterans and other Californians experiencing homelessness with a behavioral health challenge.
Prospective applicants with questions about the NOFA amendments, or who wish to schedule a required pre-application consultation, should email homekey@hcd.ca.gov.
