Washington DC Collection Dec. 14
Featuring a Special Blanket Sneak Peek!
We understand that the holiday weeks of both Hanukah and Christmas are busy for many of you, making a trip to Washington DC on Dec. 21st an impossibility. With that in mind, we wanted to provide you an early opportunity not only to drop off your creations to display in the official #memorialblanket event on the West Lawn of the US Capitol, but to catch a sneak peek of the blanket display. On Dec. 14 from noon to 3 pm, the US National Cathedral at 3101 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20016 is showing their support by allowing us a dress rehearsal in their courtyard. Blanket makers and housing advocates are invited to join us as we put 50 of the 1000 blanket art installation on display for the community to see. We will also be collecting blankets for the upcoming primary display on the US Capitol West Lawn just one week later. People who intend to be out of town during the holiday week can leave the blankets with the #memorialblanket crew at the cathedral and we will bring them to the capitol the following week.
Possible Indiana and Illinois Shout Outs
Members of the board of the Charles Bruce Foundation live near Indianapolis, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois, so we may be able to get your blankets to Washington DC from one of those two locations. If you would like to contact us about your blankets in these locations, please email epicjourney10@gmail.com to coordinate the pickup.
Mail Blankets by Dec. 12
Since most of you will not be in the southern Maine or central Pennsylvania areas, we don't want to leave your creations out of the Homeless Remembrance Blanket Project display on December 21. If you have blankets for #memorialblanket, please post them before December 12 to the following address:

Buzz from Utah
Reports of the work of the Homeless Remembrance Blanket Project are coming in across the country. The latest news story featured on Utah's NPR affiliate KUER was just added to our News Stories page. The story details the after-school efforts of Midvale Middle School students who worked together in the school's library to craft quilts for the project. You can get the full details by using the button below to go directly to the story.
On or Off the Bus, We Still Need You
Efforts to bring the at least 500-blanket/9000 square feet display to the Capital Lawn in Washington DC will be daunting. Volunteers will be needed to assemble the display from 9 am - noon on Dec. 21, and to disassemble the display from 9 pm to midnight. If you are leaving from central Pennsylvania, you will even be able to join volunteers on the blanket collection bus leaving Carlisle at 6 am on December 21. Use the button below to make your volunteer intentions known.
