Mainly Maine
You might think that Maine is done collecting your blankets for Washington DC if you scroll down the newsletter to our "Collecting News." Well, we have great news for you if you are in the Portland, ME area. If you head to the parking lot near the baseball field at Payson Park (no baseball right now, only blanket collection) on Saturday, Dec 17 from 10:00 am - noon, you will be able to add your blankets to those headed to the capitol lawn, and save on shipping to boot!
Indiana and Illinois
Members of the board of the Charles Bruce Foundation near Indianapolis, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois, have now collected nearly 100 blankets to take to Washington DC. If you would like to add your blankets and live near either of these locations, please email epicjourney10@gmail.com to coordinate a pickup.
DC Travel Suggestions
Dec. 14 Blanket Sneak Peek
With just 2 days to go until the dress rehearsal from noon to 3 pm on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the US National Cathedral, 3101 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20016 , we wanted to help you take the opportunity to see 50 of the 1000 blanket art installation on display. Metro travel to this location is still possible, but will be different from the National Lawn. From Metro Center station, it is recommended you take the Red Line toward Shady Grove. When you arrive at the Cleveland Park station, you can exit the train and walk approximately 22 minutes (1 mile) to the cathedral.
Dec. 21 National Lawn
There are also only 9 days until the big Homeless Remembrance Blanket Project display on the Capitol Lawn, so we thought we should remind everyone about the travel suggestions posted at the Homeless Remembrance Blanket Project website. If you use the button below, it will take you to the travel page for the event so you have the specific travel suggestions you will need. You can even bring your personal blanket creations with you to join the display!
