Bring Yourself, Children, and Grandchildren

Now is the time to mark your calendar for the 2023 Homeless Remembrance Blanket Project display. Beginning at noon and wrapping up the unhoused at 7:00 pm on December 21, you can witness first hand the enthralling exhibit of handmade blankets. If you like, you can also take in the historical majesty of the state house while you are there. Use the link below for helpful hints while planning your visit to Harrisburg.

Flash Request to Blanket Makers

We still need blankets - if you have any you would like to get into this year's display in Pennsylvania from another state and want help, give us a shout by emailing us at epicjourney10@gmail.com. Your creation should be seen as we make this effort to open others' eyes to the plights of the unhoused.

Back to the Shack

Blankets from outside of Carlisle, PA can be mailed to #memorialblanket, 5 Ascot Lane, Carlisle, PA 17013, but what about our local friends? Where can they leave their lovely creations for this years display? Our preferred option is for you to come to the State House in Harrisburg and hand deliver your blanket and maybe the blankets of a few friends between 9 am and noon! If you are going to be unable to make it to Harrisburg, you can again leave crocheted, knitted, or quilted blankets at the Santa Shack, Carlisle Square at 2 Hanover St., Carlisle PA 17013. We have enjoyed great success in the past with this drop-off option, and we look forward to continuing the holiday tradition. We will still collect between the hours of 3:30-5:30 pm beginning December 10 and ending December 20. If you wanted to participate but don't have time or can't make a blanket, you can bring essential kids needs like diapers, formula, bottles, etc. We will get them distributed along with the blankets.

As a separate request, we are looking to borrow a van or box truck to house many of your handmade blankets. We are collecting blankets from 12/10 thru 12/20 and will need the truck between those dates.

The Sincerest Form of Flattery

It is an honor to share National Homeless Persons Memorial Day with our #MemorialBlanket - Ohio Facebook friends. If you are unable to make the trip all the way to Harrisburg, PA this year, you might try visiting another blanket display in Akron, OH. We have included the details in the inset to the left.

Better yet, we have the additional hashtags related specifically to unhoused children, #youthhomelessness, #babiesneedus and #babiesinhomelessness. Keep those posts coming!
