February 2023 News
Re-blanketing PA
It all started in central Pennsylvania in 2021, so you can help us circle back to the Keystone state in 2023. We are looking for 60 or more blankets by December 21 for an event we want to conduct at the state capitol. If you know how to reserve the state house steps in Harrisburg, we would love to hear from you by emailing Pat LaMarche at epicjourney10@gmail.com. We have also posted a survey seeking ideas for a drive for to accompany our display. Please use the button below to vote on what you think we should collect in addition to blankets. Should we ask for diapers, child hats and mittens, sleeping bags, or some other item important to the well-being of the unhoused? Help us decide! And stay tuned announcements about upcoming efforts in Maine and South Carolina.
Still Making News
February 23rd is proving to be an exciting news day for the Homeless Remembrance Blanket Project. Pat LaMarche will appear live on ABC 27's Good Day PA television program to provide a recap of the events of the December 21, 2022 blanket display in Washington, DC. Adding to the news, we included the screenshot from Simply Knitting giving us a shout out. We also have new links on our website for a Living Lutheran magazine article published last month about the event, and the latest news at Daily Kos from our own Pat LaMarche. She's written an article about some kids in Massachusetts taking it upon themselves to improve the lives of folks experiencing homelessness. If kids feel empowered, we all should! Local Calls to Action
Blanket Network
We know that many of you created or are creating blankets to help provide warmth to the unhoused. We appreciate these efforts and want you to know that we want to help guide you to get them into the hands of those that need them most in your area. To do this, we are asking you to contact us with the names of agencies you know and trust in your state to make the best use of these blankets. As we receive your recommendations, we will add them to our website to provide each of you ready access to trustworthy agencies. Recommendations can be sent to epicjourney10@gmail.com.
