In Case You Missed It

The state house in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania has been blanketed in snow and cold since the big event took place on December 21st, and we haven't really taken the time to properly celebrate in the newsletter. What better time to revisit the day in all of its glory than now! News organizations such as WGAL 8, WHP 21, and the Bucks County Beacon reported on the story. Rev. Matthew Best provided personal testimony of his role in the day. Best of all, our live podcast recorded over 5 hours of footage for you to look back on! If you find yourself with time and would like to witness first hand the marvels of this year's feat, use the link below to be taken directly to the YouTube video.

Friends in High Places

Last year, Washington, D.C. This year, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Why have these become the location of choice for our Homeless Remembrance Blanket Projects? We realize that a problem as significant as the homeless crisis requires political answers, so it is important to speak truth to power. Thankfully, this year, Rep. Alec Ryncavage, Pennsylvania's 119th Legislative District Representative, not only heard the truth, but he delivered...literally. He shared, "Hundreds of quilts 'blanketed' our Capitol steps in Harrisburg last week to shine a light on the issue of homelessness. I had the honor of taking part of this project when four quilts were donated by a local business in our district, Behold A New Thing Plymouth. After the event, the blankets were distributed to those in need." Thank you to Rep. Ryncavage and all of the other Pennsylvania politicians that listened.

Where will we be in 2024? That is still to be determined. We haven't released the details for this year's location yet, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't get busy knitting, crocheting or quilting. After all, it is perfect under-a-pile-of-yarn weather. Besides, you all know next year's Homeless Remembrance Blanket Project is coming. Even though it can be stressful to coordinate, it's not nearly as anxiety inducing as a homeless night in the cold. Want proof? We will leave you with the latest article from Pat LaMarche written for the Bucks County Beacon about her latest efforts accompanying local homeless advocates for their Point in Time count to identify and assist local unhoused individuals.
