September 2022 News
Tell Me What
For those of you who prefer watching to learn over reading to learn, Pat LaMarche created a beautiful treat for you to better understand the purpose of the Homeless Remembrance Blanket Project. Now featured on the opening page of our website, this under two-minute video provides a one-on-one explanation the impact your efforts will make in fighting homelessness. Click the button below to go directly to the video and please share the link on your social media to spread the word to all of your friends! You might even encourage them to participate or donate using the go fund me link below.
Tell Us Why
As you are all well aware if you watched the video featured in the previous article or have been following the Homeless Remembrance Blanket Project news, in addition to a beautiful public art display of many of your creations on the Capital lawn on December 21, donations of all squares, whole blankets, and/or monetary donations will ultimately go to persons experiencing homelessness throughout the country. With that fact in mind, we have a special request from our team for all our contributors; would you write a letter to the recipient of the blanket or the public at large about why you committed your time, resources, etc to this project? You might write about your hopes for the future of housing. You might offer well wishes to blanket recipients. You get the idea.

Once you have finished those letters, forward them via email to Pat LaMarche at epicjourney10@gmail dot com or include them when you deliver your blanket. We would also love to include your letters in any reports we might do about the project, so please let us know if you would permit the inclusion of your letters in printed material we produce for, during, or after the event.

Lunch Bunch
Children and Youth Services employees in Cumberland County, PA have been busy donating their lunch hours to knit for the Homeless Remembrance Blanket Project. Their dedication to the project demonstrates their commitment to their organization's mission of providing professional social services in order to protect the safety and welfare of children; preserve, support and strengthen the family; and to identify alternative care, a safe environment and a permanent home for those children unable to remain in their home. Thank you all for your service.
Stated Purpose
Although we regularly feature individual state accomplishments in the Facebook Features section of the newsletter, this month we thought we would visually honor North Carolina and our partner, Kroc Church Greenville. As you can see in the picture to the left, Rosie poses behind a pile of completed blankets. More impressive, this group of blanket-makers is only halfway done with their production goal! If you have pictures you would like to share of your state's progress, simply post them to your state's Facebook page (which can be found here), the Homeless Remembrance Blanket Project Facebook page, or the Charles Bruce Foundation Facebook page.
Going to Pieces
Our newsletter dropped just in time for you to read the latest September 12 press release and get involved in the project in a whole new way. If you don't have the time to complete a whole blanket on your own, Pennsylvania housing advocate invites you to donate blanket squares for the Homeless Memorial Blanket Project. While the blanket dimensions are 45″ x 80″, squares can be 6″ x 6″ or 12′ x 12″. Those interested in contributing squares can send them to:

St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church
30 W. Main Street
New Kingstown
PA 17072
Attention Amy and Rev. Matthew

You can also read the press release in its entirety by clicking the link below.
Coming Together
For those of you who have time to complete a blanket but are short of resources, we have been gifted quilting fabric for anyone interested in putting those together. If you are able to assemble these pieces into completed blankets, you can contact Pat LaMarche at epicjourney10@gmail.com to receive the necessary supplies.
Time to Sign Up!
When this all started months ago, it seemed December was so far away, but now as the trees begin to turn color, December is approaching fast.
