Open Season

Blanket collections for this year's display are in full swing. We are excited to see your creativity blossom even in the coldest time of the year. The Santa Shack, Carlisle Square at 2 Hanover St., Carlisle PA 17013 has been accepting your local blanket drop-offs since December 10. This collection will continue daily between the hours of 3:30-5:30 pm until December 20.

Remember, if you live within the central Pennsylvania area, we would love for you to come to the State House in Harrisburg and hand deliver your blankets between 9 am and noon. This will give us ample time to set up the exhibition for the noon to 7:00 pm showing.

Flash Request to Blanket Makers

We still need blankets - if you have any you would like to get into this year's display in Pennsylvania from another state and want help, give us a shout by emailing us at epicjourney10@gmail.com. Your creation should be seen as we make this effort to open others' eyes to the plights of the unhoused.

Swaddling Clothes

Many of you have assumed the special task of making baby-sized blankets for the youngest members of the unhoused community. In keeping with our focus on those very young, we continue to encourage donations of kids needs (diapers, formula, bottles, etc.). We will ensure they are distributed to networks that can get them to the hands, mouths, and bottoms of those in need.

If you want a little more encouragement about our commitment to the youngest victims of the housing crisis, please read the wonderful tribute article from Diane Nilan about our work on this year's event using the link below.

And Then There Were Two

It is such an honor that our friends at the Facebook group #MemorialBlanket - Ohio have taken up the mantel in Akron, Ohio this year. If you are nearer to Ohio than Pennsylvania this December 21st, we encourage you to give their display a look. Details are available in the panel to the right.

Facebook Features

Social media sharing has been an indispensable way to grow the outreach of Homeless Remembrance Blanket Project. To make it easier for you to contribute important news to the feeds, you can use the old standby #memorialblanket to get your post directly to our social media sites. Better yet, we have the additional hashtags related specifically to unhoused children, #youthhomelessness, #babiesneedus and #babiesinhomelessness. Keep those posts coming!
