Public Health and Homeless Response Systems Join Forces to Combat COVID-19
Over the course of the pandemic, homeless service providers and public health systems have had to join forces to develop a coordinated response to the effects of COVID-19 on individuals experiencing homelessness.

After successfully screening nearly 700 individuals experiencing homelessness for COVID-19, Changing Homelessness and The Mayor's Task Force COVID-19 Shelter Sub-committee received the 2020 Local Focus. Lasting Impact. Award™ .

As a recipient of the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida's 2020 Local Focus. Lasting Impact. Award , Changing Homelessness and the Mayor's Task Force COVID-19 Shelter Sub-committee will host a Community First Credit Union Learning Lab virtually on July 30th, from 3:00 - 4:00 PM.

Participants can expect to learn and discuss:
  • How to build a collaborative network that can activate quickly in times of crisis
  • The importance of risk leadership in protecting vulnerable people
  • The process of identifying the right partners for sustainability

3rd Annual State of Homelessness and Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast: Virtual Coffee Edition
You're invited to the 3rd Annual State of Homelessness and Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast: Virtual Coffee Edition on August 13th, from 9:00 - 10:30 AM.

Join Changing Homelessness on ZOOM for a celebration of volunteers, a first look at the data collected from the 2020 Point-in-Time Count, and a panel discussion on the state of homelessness in modern America featuring local, regional, and national thought leaders.

The ZOOM link will be sent out 48 hours prior to the start and again when it starts. This is a free event.

Are you or someone you know experiencing food insecurity during COVID-19?

Catholic Charities and some partners have launched a pop-up, drive-thru food pantry at the Jessie Ball duPont Center at 40 East Adams Street . This drive-thru food pantry is contactless and open to all!

Visit the food pantry through July 30th.
Virtual Veterans Experience Action Center

The Northeast Florida Community Veterans Engagement Board (NE-FL CVEB) will launch the first Virtual Veterans Experience Action Center (V-VEAC) on July 29-31, 2020 to assist Veterans on VA benefits, healthcare, and other services. Homeless, Women, and Senior Veterans are greatly encouraged to register by July 27th for this space-limited event here or by contacting United Way 211 by dialing 2-1-1 or (904) 632-0600 Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 6:00pm.

Have you heard of Project Safe Horizon?

It's a new program that works with clients that are at risk for or already experiencing homelessness due to substance abuse and/or mental illness.

Currently, they are accepting clients into the program.
