Honoring Courage Beyond the Battlefield

Each year on August 7, our nation observes Purple Heart Day, a time to honor the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the men and women who were wounded or gave their lives while serving our country.

The Purple Heart is one of America's oldest and most revered military decorations, representing not only bravery in combat but also the lasting sacrifices made by our nation's heroes and their families. Behind every Purple Heart recipient is a story of resilience, determination, and a commitment to serving something greater than themselves.

At Fisher House Kansas City, the significance of Purple Heart Day is deeply personal. Every day, we have the privilege of supporting military and veteran families as their loved ones receive medical care. We witness firsthand the strength of those recovering from injuries, the unwavering support of caregivers, and the compassion of a community that stands beside them throughout their healing journey.
