Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals and National Association of Secondary School Principals are offering a one-day workshop for advisors and sponsors of National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society chapters in Virginia.

The workshop will feature NASSP's National Honor Society Director Nara Lee, Virginia Association of Honor Societies Director Melinda Sellew, VASSP-VFEL Center for Educational Leadership Director Dr. Roger Jones and VASSP Executive Director Dr. Randy Barrack. Additionally, advisors will have an opportunity to participate in roundtable discussions sharing ideas, strategies, viewpoints and experiences with colleagues.

  • Student selection procedures
  • Student and parent rights
  • Discipline and dismissal
  • Legal issues for advisors

Program Goals:

By the end of this program, participants will demonstrate an understanding of:
  • current trends and issues as they pertain to the National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society and other student honor recognition organizations.
  • collaborations and communication skills to improve their NHS, NJHS or other student honor recognition chapter.
  • the importance of school law and its impact on NHS, NJHS and other student honor recognition organizations.
