Strength. Resilience. Hope.
These are just a few words I’ve heard to describe that feeling when you first walk up to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. For 150 years she has stood tall on our beaches as a symbol of resiliency and a guiding light in the darkness.
This year brought many challenges to Cape Hatteras National Seashore and your OBX national parks. Record breaking visitation, reduced staff, and new safety measures made protecting your parks while also sharing their many important historical and cultural stories difficult.
This year also brought many opportunities. Opportunities to reflect on how these places have impacted you and your family, and the role your parks’ stories play in our nation’s history.
