Honoring a Legacy: The Life and Legacy of Charlie Stenholm

Capturing the Stories of a Changemaker in Agriculture and Policy

Former U.S. Representative and Tarleton State alumnus Charlie Stenholm left a lasting impact on agricultural policy and the Tarleton community. To honor his legacy, Dr. Jean Lonie is leading a project to collect and share personal stories from those who knew him best. This project aims to preserve Stenholm’s influence for future generations and inspire engagement in policy and leadership.

TSU Equine's First ET Foal

A sorrel filly by One Fine Vintage and out of Wimpys Lil Freckles (Wimpys Little Step x daughter of Cutter Freckles) made her arrival on Tuesday, March 18.

The filly is a result of the first successful embryo transfer (ET) done by Tarleton State University's Equine Program. Dr. Martinez and his students had a hands-on role in the complete process.

This opportunity was supported by Robertson Ranches and Dr. Charlie Buchanan.

Pre-Veterinary Medical Association Students Visit Texas Tech School of Veterinary Medicine

In February, 30 students from the PVMA traveled to Texas Tech's SVM to gain insight on their program, tour their facilities, and better understand opportunities in the field.

COANR Course Feature

ANSC 4301: Equine Breeding Management

Instructor: Dr. Rafael Martinez

This course applies theory to practices associated with equine breeding and reproduction. Students learn how to handle mares and foals in stocks, skills in reproductive technologies, and basic herd health care.

Tarleton Equine Leadership Academy Visits the Texas Capitol

The group of undergraduate and graduate equine students in Tarleton's Equine Leadership Academy travelled to Austin over spring break for their Business and Policy Experience. The conversations with policy makers and business people helped shape their perspectives of how policy and business affect the equine industry.

Pursuit of Purple is Almost Here!

The steer and heifer show, organized and hosted by COANR Agricultural Communications students, will be held April 25-27 at the Erath County Livestock Barns.
