As we approach Thanksgiving, we pause to reflect on the complexity of this holiday and its varied meanings. For many, it is a time to gather in gratitude with loved ones. For others, it is a somber reminder of the painful history and ongoing impact of colonization on Indigenous peoples and their lands.

This season invites us to hold these truths together: the need for gratitude and connection, and the imperative to honor justice and repair. We encourage you to take time to learn about the histories and cultures of the Indigenous peoples who stewarded the lands we now call home. Consider how your gratitude can inspire actions that support equity, solidarity, and healing.

As we reflect on our shared values of truth, justice, and community, we also look forward to gathering at the 2025 UUA General Assembly in Baltimore, where we will continue the work of building a more just and loving world—together.

Please share the message with the UU youth (14-18ish) and emerging adults (18-24ish) you know that they are invited to submit a proposal to present a pre-recorded or a live webinar at the 2025 General Assembly. The workshop can have an in-person meetup component. Visit uua.org/ga/program/contribute/proposing to see what it sparks. If you have an idea but it seems overwhelming, You can email your friendly Lifespan Faith Engagement staff at youth@uua.org and they’re more than happy to accompany you through the application process or think with you about who you could partner with and even help you make those connections.
