National Grief Awareness Week Dec. 2 - 8

National Grief Awareness Week exists to raise awareness of all aspects of grief and loss on a national scale, and also to offer channels of support for those who have suffered a bereavement and are in need. Arkansas Hospice is committed to helping families find hope and healing through the challenges that come at life’s end. This includes grief support, both prior to and following a death. The Arkansas Hospice team walks beside patients and families on this difficult journey. Arkansas Hospice provides grief support not only for the families of our patients, but also for the community at large – regardless if the loss was an Arkansas Hospice patient or not. Services are available to anyone who would like to participate in our organized programs, and are available free of charge. Remember Joe, the Arkansas Hospice patient who dreamt of taking a spin in an iconic muscle car? As a young man, Joe watched the 1971 movie “Vanishing Point” 15 times. He’d wanted to ride in a Dodge Challenger Hellcat ever since. Joe’s dream finally came true on an unseasonably warm day in February 2017. As the 700 horsepower engine revved up, Joe – proudly sporting an Allman Brothers T-Shirt – and his driver, Jeff, did a fist bump. Then, they took off, with the roar of the muscle car’s motor and Joe’s favorite music trailing behind them. As the photo shows, Joe savored every moment. “I would’ve loved to have driven it,” he said, “but it was still great!” You can be a part of making memories for Arkansas Hospice patients and their families.
