Honoring Our Fallen Heroes Through Service and Remembrance
This past weekend, Scouts from across the council came together to honor and remember our nation's fallen heroes in a powerful display of service and gratitude for Memorial Day. More than 90,000 flags were carefully placed at the Los Angeles National Cemetery and other locations throughout our council, creating a meaningful tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Thank you to the Scouts, leaders, families, and volunteers who dedicated their time to this important tradition of remembrance, service, and gratitude.
Did your unit participate in Memorial Day services or activities this weekend? We'd love to share your stories and photos. Please contact the Director of Marketing and Communications Cicily Gardea, to share.

Power Up Your Fall Recruiting: Tools, Strategies & Support for a Strong Growth Season
Ready to supercharge your fall recruiting season? Join us for one of two identical Zoom sessions designed to give your unit the tools, strategies, and confidence to grow this fall!
We’ll walk through practical, ready-to-use tools that make recruiting easier and more effective, including how to:
- Leverage Invitation Manager (Scouting’s CRM) to track and engage prospective families
- Streamline your online application process
- Order and use Council geofencing resources to boost visibility for your joining events
- Understand the Council’s advertising strategy for maximum local impact
- Apply best practices for a strong and successful membership growth season
Choose one session that works for you; both start at 7 pm:
Before the sessions, take a few minutes to explore the New Member Coordinator toolkit—your go-to resource for building a welcoming and organized system for new families. And as you plan your summer and fall events, don’t forget: the Council can help promote your recruitment efforts through targeted geofenced social media ads delivered directly to families in your area.
If you’re hosting a summer picnic, open house, or join night, now is the time to share your details so we can help you promote it effectively. The earlier we know, the stronger your results will be.
Request geofenced ads for your event today and help more families discover Scouting!
These tools exist for one reason—helping you bring the adventure, growth, and excitement of Scouting to more young people in your community. Every new family you welcome starts with a great invitation, and we’re here to help you make that invitation count.

From Explorer to Army Officer – Congratulations, Matthew!
Join us in celebrating an incredible milestone and congratulating one of our long-time Post 300 Monterey Park Police Explorers, Matthew, on graduating from California State University, Fullerton, and officially taking the oath of office at his Army ROTC Commissioning Ceremony!
Watching a young person grow from a dedicated Explorer into a newly commissioned officer in the United States Army Reserve represents the impact and purpose of the Explorer program at its very best. Matthew’s hard work, discipline, perseverance, and commitment to serving others have created a path that will inspire future generations of Explorers and Scouts.
Thank you for representing Monterey Park with excellence and distinction. We are incredibly proud of all you have accomplished and look forward to seeing the impact you will continue to make.
Congratulations, Matthew — your journey is just getting started!
