WAMFT Legislative Update for November:
Honoring Senator O'Ban
On Monday, October 28th WAMFT Board members Jennifer Sampson, Board President, Anthony Pennant, Legislative Chair and Board Member at Large, along with Elizabeth Cabibi, Board Member at Large, presented Washington State Senator Steve O’Ban with the 2019 Family Advocacy Award.

This award honors an individual or organization outside of the marriage and family therapy clinical profession who has served families in the state of Washington by advancing the legislative priorities of WAMFT.

Senator O’Ban was nominated by WAMFT members for his instrumental work in the passing of Senate Bill 5054, the Mental Health Reciprocity Bill which ensures a streamlined process in granting masters level licensure to clinicians that hold an equivalent license in another state. Though there is still work to do at the state agency level to implement the legislation, it would not be where it is without committed leaders like Senator O’Ban.

This award is a way that the Washington Marriage and Family Therapy community thank and honor distinguished individuals who continue to support our work, recognize our contributions to the communities we serve, and appreciate the professionalism that distinguishes our unique approach to the delivery of care.

WAMFT looks forward to continuing to partner with all members of the state legislature to advance the regulatory and legislative priorities brought forth by our members.

Signed,
Anthony Pennant, LMFT
Legislative Committee Chair
