MCC Tampa joins our entire denomination, and many other faith communities and organizations, in honoring the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR). Every year on November 20th, TDOR commemorates those who have lost their lives to transphobia. This Sunday, November 22nd, we will honor TDOR during our worship service.
As a faith community, MCC Tampa stands in solidarity with trans people, particularly trans women of color, who are disproportionally victims of higher rates of hate crimes than nearly any other group of people. We recognize them as our siblings and we stand with them in their cry for justice.
This Sunday we will look at a passage from the Gospel of Matthew, where Jesus gives us a clear call to take action on behalf of those who are in need of love and compassion. Jesus reminds us of the incredible call to do his work in this world. I hope you will join us as we prayerfully stand in solidarity with all who long to feel God’s grace.
You are loved
