Look for our newsletters on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. Enclosed you will find plenty of events, information, interviews, and links of interest. As we enter the next few months we would like to remind you that masks covering your nose and mouth are required at all times in the library. Please do not come in if you are not feeling well. We can always accommodate you through curbside service.

Veteran's Day Walk

Wednesday, November 11 | 11 AM | Meet on the library lawn

Join us as we walk through the village and talk about the Osterville veterans and visit their monuments.
The walk starts at the library gazebo on the library lawn, (the library will be closed) and will be led by Osterville historian Paul Chesbro and Osterville Village Library Director Cyndy Cotton, with a special dedication to David Richardson at Armstrong-Kelley Park at 11:30.

Virtual Cookie Recipe Swap

The entire staff at the Osterville Village Library invites you to join in our virtual cookie and recipe swap that begins on November 27th and culminates with a Zoom virtual cookie and recipe swap on December 9th at 5:00 PM.
At the end of the Zoom gathering, one lucky participant will win a $50.00 gift certificate that supports one of our local merchants.
To join in the fun after November 27th:
- Bake any one of your amazing favorite cookie recipes (yes, bar-like cookies are great too!)

Email us ofl_mail@clamsnet.org a photo, recipe, and any stories related to your cookie. We will post these on our website and enter you into our drawing for a gift certificate that supports one of our local merchants.
- Get social! Follow us on FB and Instagram, post a photo of your cookies, and use the hashtag #ovlcookies.
- Our OVL virtual cookbook group invites participants to share their cookies at their Zoom gathering on December 9th at 5:00 PM. The drawing for a gift certificate that supports one of our local merchants will take place at 6:00 PM. Participants do not need to attend the Zoom gathering to win. Winner will be notified via email.
Bakers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate. We will have books and STEM activities related to cooking available in our Children's Room.

Native American Trail Walk

The Historical Society of Old Yarmouth invites you to join Nipmuc – Wampanoag Marcus Hendricks and local historian Bob Kelley on this one-mile Native American talk/walk along the Thacher trail (part of our Yarmouth Port Nature Trails).
Discussions will range from the Woodland Period through 200 years after the Contact Period; hunting, fishing, domestic life, and local Native American Thomas Greenough, one of the “Praying Indians” and last of the Nobscusset tribe here at Yarmouth. The walk will end at the new Turtle Wetu.

We continue to add different worksheets to our display regularly and have new crafts for the to-go bags every few days, so come pick up a couple to keep the kids active and engaged!
We keep a mixture of outdoor activities, crafts, and educational activities for your little ones.

The OVL is an official Toys for Tots drop off location again this year, so if you're able, please donate a new, unwrapped toy this month or next month. Your donation will go to a needy child in our community this Christmas, and there are few things more precious than that. |
