November 2025 Edition

November is a month for reflection, gratitude, and planning ahead as we approach the end of the year. It is also a time to honor those who have served our country. On Veterans Day, we recognize the dedication and sacrifice of the men and women who have defended our freedoms. We are grateful for their service and proud to celebrate their contributions.

As the year winds down, it’s a perfect time to review your business’s risk management strategy. At U.S. Captive Partner and Associates, we work with business owners who want more control, clarity, and long-term benefits from their insurance programs. A captive-backed policy can help protect your business while building a stronger financial foundation for the future.

With less than two months left in the year, now is the time to ensure your strategy is in place. Starting sooner rather than later gives you the opportunity to maximize the advantages of a captive before year-end deadlines.

As always, if you have questions or want to learn more, give us a call or visit the Captive 101 section on our website.

Sincerely,

Larry Papola

Tennessee Captive Conference Marks 15 Years of Growth and Innovation

Captive.com recently connected with organizers of the 15th Annual Tennessee Captive Insurance Association (TCIA) Conference, taking place October 13–15, 2025, in Nashville. Now in its 15th year, the conference has become a cornerstone event for the captive insurance community, blending foundational training, thought-leading sessions, and networking opportunities. From Captives 101 to Songwriter's Night, this year's program builds on a strong tradition while addressing timely challenges and opportunities facing captives today.

Show Me Missouri - Where Captives Grow Strong

Missouri enacted its captive law in 2007 to support the business community looking for solutions to manage their traditional risk and beyond. This philosophy continues to be the centerpiece of the Missouri Captive Insurance Program today as we look for ways to support a global industry with innovative ideas that encourage growth while also protecting success. This vision is achieved by developing a strong internal and external team.

The Missouri Captive Insurance Program maintains a group of experienced professionals who understand the state captive laws, work diligently to regulate without over-regulating, and encourage continuous captive growth. This regulatory balance is why Missouri is the place where captives grow strong. The program also works with external stakeholders to ensure we are reacting to the changing captive market in a timely manner.

Captive Insurance in Interesting Times: Navigating Cyber Risk

Many businesspeople are familiar with the expression, "may you live in interesting times." Interesting is indeed an apt description for the current cyber-security environment. And with the astonishing rate of development fueled by artificial intelligence (AI), that environment is evolving more quickly than ever.

That is true for the technology—and every bit as true for the strategies and products companies use to indemnify their business risks related to cyber security.

Why Form a Captive?

There are numerous potential advantages to forming a captive insurance company. Captive insurance companies are formed for both economic and risk management purposes. By forming a captive insurance company, a business can dramatically lower insurance costs in comparison to premiums paid to a conventional property and casualty insurance company.
