Hello Friend,
As we welcome the arrival of spring, I am reminded of the season’s promise of renewal and growth—values that are at the heart of our work at JFCS East Bay. This month, we also celebrate the resilience of the women we serve and the women who lead our work. Nearly 150 years ago, JFCS East Bay was founded by the Daughters of Israel Relief Society, a group of visionary Jewish women dedicated to caring for their community. Their legacy of compassion continues to shape our mission, as women today drive change at every level of our organization, nurturing growth and fostering resilience in our community.
With federal refugee bans and funding freezes, we are no longer officially resettling new refugees. However, we remain steadfast in our commitment to those seeking safety and stability. We continue to serve Special Immigrant Visa holders who have come on their own, open cases of new arrivals, and extended support for refugees who have arrived in recent years. Our refugee and immigrant support services now offer expanded employment assistance, English language training, mental and physical health and housing support, and critical legal aid.
Demand grows daily for our immigration legal services as fears are stoked and Due Process and the Rule of Law are being ignored through a bombardment of federal policies and actions.

| | Day of Service at Contra Costa Jewish Day School |
We are so grateful for our partnership with Contra Costa Jewish Day School and the incredible generosity of their students, teachers, and families! During their recent Day of Service, middle school students heard about our services, while younger students (grades 2-5) created heartfelt Shabbat Shalom cards for older adults in our Jewish community. The entire school came together to assemble 40 hygiene kits, which they donated to us to support community members in maintaining their health and well-being.
We love working with CCJDS and are inspired by their commitment to giving back!
