Goodman Named Inaugural Meyskens Speaker

The First Frank and Linda Meyskens Annual Endowed Lectureship on Advances in Cancer Prevention Planned for Spring in Seattle

Since the early 1980’s, Dr. Meyskens has been a leader in the recognition, development, and clinical usage of Prevention in the management of cancer. Frank and Linda have directed the development of this lectureship to advance the explosion of knowledge that is expanding opportunities to engage Prevention in personalized medicine, including early detection and genetically focused treatment options.

The annual lectureship will debut on April 4 at the spring SWOG meeting in Seattle with inaugural speaker Gary Goodman, MD. Dr. Goodman received his medical oncology training at the University of Arizona and was introduced by Dr. Meyskens to the new field of cancer chemoprevention. Under the mentorship of Dr. Meyskens and working in the lab of Dr. David Alberts, he studied the pharmakinetics and chemopreventive potential of retinoids.

Singh Leading Team to Ride in Support of The Hope Foundation

Dr. Parminder Singh is a SWOG member investigator at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona – and an avid cyclist!

This April, Singh will participate in the 62-mile Tour de Scottsdale as a nonprofit rider for The Hope Foundation. The Tour de Scottsdale has 32-mile and 62-mile cycling races with routes that circumnavigate the McDowell Mountains and pass through Scottsdale, Rio Verde and Fountain Hills, AZ.

Donations made in support of his ride will advance Hope’s mission. To date, $6,470 has been raised for Hope through this event.

“Let’s ride to fight cancer!” said Singh.

Please donate to Hope via the Tour de Scottsdale website to support Dr. Singh's ride. Together, we can make a difference for SWOG members and patients.
