Alumni Obituary
Monte Tuckman, DPM (1972), alumnus and former clinician at FCNY, passed away on the last weekend of April. He was appointed in 1980 and worked in FCNY until early 2012. His position at the time of his departure was Clinical Associate Professor.
_Dr. Tuckman was the “Featured Alumnus” in the Winter 2009 issue of NYCPM’s Student Alumni Report. In this appreciation, author Kelly Powers (2010) described “… Dr. Tuckman’s jovial charismatic character reverberates throughout the Foot Clinics of New York (FCNY) every Wednesday and Thursday. … It is not every day that students are blessed with such a multi-talented individual to work alongside. Dr. Tuckman has passion for podiatry, teaches his students with nothing less than zeal and fortitude, and thus he gains respect from his loyal patients … In addition to his passionate advocacy for teaching students how to be truly good clinicians, he takes time to teach students life lessons daily. His approach is awe-inspiring and quite refreshing … Clearly Dr. Tuckman loves the career he chose and feels strongly about providing good healthcare to all. He expressed, ‘Never see a patient with dollar signs in your eyes … always treat a patient as if they were your loved-ones.’”
