It's Finals Week Foothill Owl Scholars!

You guys are all locked in, and so is your Honors Newsletter department. We hope you have a wonderful holiday break. In Honors World we are getting geared up for the Winter Quarter before we open presents under the tree.

We will be meeting all you UCLA-TAP scholar applicants next January so you can GET CERTIFIED as an HONORS SCHOLAR. If you applied check out this letter from UCLA that leads you the applicant agreement form that you must fill out.

Below are the Certification Meetings - attend ONE in person and get Certified On Site working with a counselor directly. (limited spaces available per meeting, if you go to one of the online meetings below, you will still have to meet an honors counselor later in person for certification)

1. January 13th/12-1:30pm In-person at the Honors Student Lounge (HSL) which is Room 1944 across from the Welcome Center.
2. January 16th/11:00-12:00pm Virtual
3. January 21st/ 12:00-1:00pm Virtual
4. January 22nd/ 12-1:30pm In-Person (Honors Student Lounge - rm 1944)
5. January 27th/ 5:00-6:00pm Virtual

• New Student Orientation for students New in Fall or Winter - Are you new and you were never oriented? Come Monday January 27th for New Students in the Fall and Winter at 12-1pm in the Honors Student Lounge Room 1944.
• We are also be recruiting for Honors Research Symposium Presentations. This year it will be at Berkeley in April. Abstracts are due February 14th. We will have meetings to help students on Thursday January 23rd at 10AM-2PM in the Honors Student Lounge (rm 1944) for Honors Symposium Drop In Info Hours. Interested students talk with Dr. Sam Connell to discuss ideas and create the abstract. The entire experience is paid for by Foothill College. Check out their website.
• Become an Honors Mentor! We are looking for students who want to help younger students get ready for year 2. Volunteer by letting the Honors Connection Club co-presidents know your interest.
• It's Scholarship Time -- check out all the free money that is being tossed around. Foothill Scholarships are for you!

So far we have 12 people signed up to do some service volunteering next quarter on campus. We will reach out to anyone who signs up and arrange excellent volunteer opportunities for the group!
