Hoodlums is going into Hibernation.
|
Hello friends and customers,
Hoodlums Music and Movies is going into hibernation.
The reason I use that specific phrase is simple: We're closing our Tempe Square location due to an unsuccessful lease negotiation, and we haven't decided which direction we are going to go. We are weighing options and opportunities. If Hoodlums reemerges, we hope to have a refreshed outlook on whichever new direction we've decided to take. It will be a hibernation, not a hiatus.
I say "if" because one of the options may be not to reemerge. There's a lot to consider and as you may have heard, the music industry is a fast-mutating beast. We've succeeded as an independent record store during our industry's most volatile fourteen years, but it's been a battle to say the least. There's something to be said for moving in a new direction while the bills are still paid and we have the option.
Of course, we're still as passionate about music as when we were kids, and we've got a loyal batch of customers and friends that like to collect CDs and albums the way we do. Plus, we absolutely love the Tempe community... so there's plenty of room to reinvent ourselves and get back spreading the music. As I said, there's a lot to consider, and opportunities seem to pop up.
We'd love to hear your opinion, but let's do it in the store (I'm sure we'll do some "pondering" online as well). That way we can shake your hand and attempt to thank you (I say "attempt" because nothing can truly convey our appreciation) for fourteen years of support at all three of our locations.
We'll be open normal hours until August 15th. We'll be doing some smokin' specials as we look to get our inventory lean and mean. We've got a ton of awesome used CDs, Albums, and DVDs, and we'll still have all the new music in our Coalition of Independent Music Stores' listening posts, and we'll still be able to special order (free of charge) with same-week delivery... in case we don't have what you need in stock.
Thanks as always for your time, your support, and your business.

Fantastic new music for summer. Grab some and chill.
|
Hoodlums and our comrades at the Coalition of Independent Music Stores (CIMS) are all over the Summer's new releases.
Come down to the store and you can listen to these great titles on our listening posts while you read the excellent descriptions and stories of the albums. They are all priced to sell, so it'll be easy to grab some new music.
Or, you can click the link for each category and you'll be taken to a PDF with all the descriptions for that category... and you can read 'em while you listen to the music online... and then come down and pick 'em up on CD or LP.
