This Weekend at Hope:
Which Way to the Promised Land? | A Meal to Remember | Exodus 12:21-23
Happy Friday Hope!

It's the first weekend of October and that's good news for a couple of reasons.

First, it's Communion Weekend. At Hope we celebrate communion every week at the 8:00 am Sunday worship service, and the first weekend of the month at all four services (Saturday at 5:00 pm and Sunday at 8:00, 9:15 and 11:00 am).

This week, we get to the story of the Passover  as we continue our current sermon series, Which Way to the Promised Land. You would almost think we planned it this way (we did!). I'm looking forward to digging into the connections between the Passover and Holy Communion. One of the connections is we experience God not just through our thought life, but also through our senses. There's a reason God gave us the ability to taste, smell, touch, see and hear and we'll dig into why those senses are so important to living a life of faith.

Secondly, the first weekend of October means we are ready to roll out some important details and information about Building 2 a Hope Beyond.

+ Building 2 a Hope Beyond is a giving campaign, not a fundraiser. The campaign itself will focus on four weekends of worship (Oct. 27-28, Nov 3-4, Nov 10-11 & Nov 17-18). We have three goals for the campaign: Gather, Grow and Give. This is a unique opportunity for us to spend some time intentionally focused on building our relational connections with God and with one another, deepening our faith and our community, and yes, talking about a Bible-based approach to giving.

+ Open Houses. Next week we'll be mailing postcards to people listed in our database as members or regular attenders. If you're not sure how you are listed, you can   log in  to your Realm Account, create a Realm Account, fill out a white card  at the bottom of the bulletin, or visit the Building 2 a Hope Beyond booth  between the Prayer Chapel and the Nursery.

+ 40 Days of Prayer. The only time we will ask you to give is at the end of worship during Commitment Weekend, Nov. 17-18. No pressure. No guilt. Just a joyful response to what God is up to in your life. We do want to encourage you to engage in that process by asking God, "What do you want to do through me to accomplish your will for Hope?" The Prayer Team has also created a prayer guide to help you focus on this question for the 40 days leading up to Commitment Weekend. Those 40 days begins Tuesday, Oct. 9. You can access the Prayer Guide on our website and/or get connected through Facebook, Twitter  and Instagram. Hard copies of the Prayer Guide will also be available at the Connect, Grow, Serve table and the Building 2 a Hope Beyond booth.

It's always exciting to be a part of what God is doing. I'm looking forward to the faith-building, bush-burning, mountain-moving, waters-parting stories that we'll experience in the next several weeks.

It's good to be the church. It's good to have Hope!
