October 2024

Greetings, to our Esperanza community!

We are excited to reveal our new branding, which brings HOPE to the face of domestic violence. Our new look and feel is more than artwork; it is an expression of our unwavering mission to create a world where HOPE is the foundation of our efforts. It reminds us that we can have impact within our communities.

The month of October has been declared and proclaimed by the Mayor of Santa Fe as "Domestic Violence Awareness Month". To that end, Esperanza is working to raise awareness on the issue of domestic violence. We invite you to join us in working toward a world where everyone can feel safe at home.

Looking ahead, we strive to inspire hope and dedicate ourselves to fostering deep relationships with community partners and our donors, while being proactive in our strategic approach. Please see our community events and new partnerships for more.

We will continue to use our funding to prioritize the needs of Northern New Mexico with a focus on providing immediate assistance to those impacted by domestic abuse. Our services include counseling, advocacy, children and adult programs, and groups for those who use violence. Our goal is to help with the healing process and to educate and encourage healthy relationships.

Everyone can benefit from continued education and collaboration, so we invite you to visit our updated, freshly branded website, join our group of amazing volunteers, and work with us to ensure a safe place for everyone.

Thank you for your continued support of our work.

Sincerely,

Jan McCray, JD

Santa Fe Mayor Proclamation

Mayor Alan Webber has proclaimed October 2024 "Domestic Violence Awareness Month" in Santa Fe. In recognizing the Shelter’s new campaign, Mayor Webber says: "Hope is ... the feeling that things are getting better, one day at a time."

Did you know?

Nationally, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will be victims of partner violence in their lifetimes, and 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience severe physical violence from an intimate partner in their lifetimes.

To help, we must shed light on these issues, as abuse and violence often fester in the dark and become more insidious with each incident. For those with a loved one experiencing domestic violence, it can feel like a helpless situation; however, there are many ways to help.
