Hygiene Closet
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, HCH hosted a Day of Service. We welcomed 20+ volunteers from the D. Bradley McWilliams YMCA to work sorting our toiletry and hygiene items in preparation for a “Hygiene Bar” coming soon for our homeless friends. Leading the event were Br. Allen, Stephanie, and Leslie Ann. They were joined by Cody Meredith, Dir. of Operations and our own board members Paul Kent and Jennie Stevens, VP of Strategic Partnerships and Operations
Point-in-Time Count
Coalition for the Homeless of Houston conducted its annual Point-in-Time Count for Houston and Harris County in late January. On Jan. 27, from 7am - 4pm, Hope Center Houston's Executive Director, Br. Allen, and John Basel, our Social Services Coordinator, participated in the field count for areas west of I-45. They counted and interviewed about 50 men and women on the street, under the freeway, and in tents and wooded encampments - all within 5-15 minutes of HCH. “Vito” even sang/rapped his own version of Psalm 23.
Volunteers
Hope Center Houston is looking for volunteers! There are numerous areas you can use your talents to benefit our homeless community....hygiene/showers, laundry, intake, clothes closet, kitchen and more!
