HIE Awareness Month is right around the corner, Betsy!

We are excited to share our annual campaign for HIE Awareness Month in April - Hope Inspires: A Call to Action. This year, we are excited to generate involvement of our community around the themes of Advocacy, Creativity, Support & Community.

We've developed a comprehensive toolkit that we encourage everyone to review, share and get involved in! We have a full calendar of events with educational Q&As from our Medical Advisory Board, a chef-led Family Cooking Class for all abilities, and of course, our Hustle for Hope 5K (we currently have over 100 registrants - hoping to double that by April 1st!).

All of this is hosted at HIEawarenessmonth.com, so you can easily remember how to find it, and easily share with friends, family, colleagues and more.

I'm eager to kick off the month on April 1st co-presenting at the National Association of Neonatal Therapists conference in Cincinnati with Medical Advisory Board member and pediatric neurologist, Dr. Monica Arroyo, sharing about multidisciplinary and family-centered care for HIE families in the NICU with neonatal therapists. If you are attending, please be sure to say hi!

We look forward to another great year bringing attention to the incredible community of families we connect, the latest in research and clinical care, and pausing to remember our HIE children gone too soon, creating a global Wave of Light of support.

Thank you, as always, for your incredible support!

Most sincerely,

Betsy Pilon

Organizational News

March is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month

Cerebral palsy is one of the most common diagnoses that comes from HIE, with roughly 40% of all children with HIE developing some type of CP. HIE is one of the less widely known causes, as it makes up only about 10-15% of all diagnosed cases of CP.

We're sharing information about cerebral palsy and HIE all month long across our social media platforms.

We also have a few different educational Q&As, fact sheets and more that you can use to learn more:

Hope for HIE gifted Dropbox In-Kind Donation

Thank you to one of our HIE parents for connecting us to a donation from Dropbox for an in-kind nonprofits account!

Every resource we have is so critically important, and this will continue to help us do our work efficiently and effectively.

Thanks, Kyla!
