This Weekend at Hope:
Building 2 a Hope Beyond | A Call BeyondLuke 14:15-23
Hello Hope Des Moines!
It's hard to believe that just five years ago, the church building we now call home was an empty, unused former car dealership. This past week, I couldn't help but look around and see a church buzzing with ministry. As I write this week, I'm looking up at one of our TV monitors here at the church facility, looking at the listing of events coming up in the evening.
First, our Whiz Kidz neighborhood outreach for elementary age kids (A great opportunity to donate a meal as a life group - contact Chris from our team HERE), followed by a care training for those joining our Care Team as hospital visitors and care ministers (also a growing need - for more info contact Kim HERE). Also, Guys Night for any man in our community looking to get connected and go deeper in faith in a fun and casual way (the next Guys Night is Thursday, Dec. 6). Finally, three Neighborhood Open Houses were happening around the metro area for our "Building 2 a Hope Beyond" campaign. And that's just one night around here! Praise God! An additional note to celebrate - every one of these opportunities is being led by volunteer leaders from our church community. You are leading your church, which is both healthy and Biblical! ( Ephesians 4:15-16).
Speaking of amazing volunteer leaders, our "Building 2 a Hope Beyond" campaign kicked off this past weekend, and we're off to a great start! If you missed last weekend, you can listen to the message HERE. If you haven't heard of the exciting news about our facility addition, all the info is on our campaign website HERE. Again, I want to strongly encourage you to make weekend worship a priority over the next three weeks as we lead up to commitment weekend on Nov. 17-18.
Also, I want to invite you to attend one of our Neighborhood Open Houses continuing this weekend through next week. These 90-minute sessions are an awesome opportunity to hear about the vision of this campaign, watch a short video about the future facility, ask questions to members of our campaign team, and meet others from Hope Des Moines that may live close to you! Dozens of members of our campaign team have been working behind the scenes for several weeks to prepare locations all over the metro to make it accessible to all! They can't wait to see you there!
This weekend, I can't wait to share with you a message all about the giant party Jesus is inviting us to! We'll dig into the parable of the great banquet (Luke 14), and discover more about the vision of this facility addition. Join us Saturday at 5:00 pm or Sunday at 9:15 or 11:00 am. Bring a friend, and we'll see you there!
P.S. Parents, don't forget this Saturday night at 6:30 following worship, we'll have Family Movie Night! We'll enjoy a family-friendly movie, complete with popcorn and pizza! This would be a great time to check out the Saturday 5:00 pm service!
