The Life-Changing Impact of Volunteer Vision Care: A Conversation with Scott Farrell, OD

Dr. Scott Farrell shares how volunteering with Hope Alliance since 2017 has changed lives—both for patients receiving essential vision care and for himself.

“Helping people see clearly means so much more than just improving their vision,” Scott says. “People ask me all the time why I keep going—why I spend my own time and money to do this work. I tell them, when people come back from a vacation, they feel rested. When I return from a humanitarian trip, I feel the same, but probably even more rested and rewarded. There’s nothing more fulfilling than knowing you’ve made a real difference in someone’s life.”

2024 was a year of incredible growth and impact for Hope Alliance. Thanks to our dedicated donors and hundreds of volunteers, we have performed 5,128 eye exams (and still counting) at 50 vision clinics to individuals in underserved communities in Utah and across the globe.

Your support is crucial to funding the purchase of eyeglasses, equipment, and more eye exams, changing the trajectory of an entire community.

Service for Sight: Corporate Eyes for a Cause

Hope Alliance helps local and visiting businesses give back through volunteer projects. Your team can sort, clean, and organize donated eyeglasses, preparing them for distribution to those in need in Utah and worldwide.

Moab Vision Clinic Receives Generous Grant

Many thanks to Pure Synergy for their generous grant to Hope Alliance last month! Funding from local Moab companies helps us to continue operating our vision clinic out of the Moab Free Health Clinic.

Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who helped us to run three very busy clinics in Moab in January! We couldn't do this important work without the generous gift of your time and talents that make our clinics work!
