Our Plan Forward:

Hope South Campus Building Project Update as of September 2023

In October 2022, based on the preliminary design plans for the Main Building Project (Worship Center, Administration/Education Center, Courtyard and Bell Tower), the congregation authorized the Church Council to obtain design/engineering contracts for the Design Phase of the Main Building Complex. Since that date, the Church Council has engaged the services of Judd Dickerson of Dickerson Architects and Stephen Campbell of Clymer Farner Barley, civil engineering, to produce the design plans and site plan for the Main Building Complex.

At the Congregation Information Meetings held at all 3 campuses during the June 3-4, 2023 weekend, the Church Council announced Our Plan Forward. Because of the Capital Campaign shortfall in donations, the Worship Center of the Main Building Complex would be built first, before the Activity Center.

Since June 2023, the Church Council and the Hope South Campus Strategic Planning Committee have been actively involved in revising and finalizing the design plans and related site development plan for the Worship Center.

In July 2023, Judd Dickerson produced revised preliminary design plans for the Worship Center (new footprint and new floor plan) which reflected (a) recommendations from the 4 Subcommittees of the Hope South Campus Strategic Planning Committee from April 2023 and (b) the need for additional space to provide for administration functions that would have been performed in the Activity Center.

At its August 2023 meeting, the Church Council reviewed these revised preliminary design plans and approved the revised footprint for the Worship Center. As a result, a meeting was held with Judd Dickerson to authorize submission of the revised Worship Center footprint to The Villages Design Review  Committee and to the City of Wildwood for the required approvals.

On August 31, 2023, the four Subcommittees of the Hope South Campus Strategic Planning Committee (Worship/Music, Administrative/Education, Fellowship/Recreation and Outdoor/Maintenance) met to review the revised floor plans of the Worship Center and have made recommendations which will be reviewed by the Church Council at its September 2023 meeting. These recommendations will be given to Judd Dickerson to finalize the floor plan for the Worship Center.

After receiving final recommendations for the floor plan and the footprint of the Worship Center, Judd Dickerson and Stephen Campbell will finalize the revised design plans for the Worship Center and site plan for the Hope South Campus building project. These plans will include cost estimates for the construction of the Worship Center and related site plans. It is anticipated that these plans and cost estimates will be available for review by the congregation in the late October-November 2023 time frame with congregational approval of this revised building plan and financing arrangements by the end of 2023.
