Every day, CASA Volunteers give kids hope.
This month, they get to give presents, too.
Having spent the year trying to lighten the burden for their kids, Volunteers and Coaches now get to simply grant wishes - and being able to do that is one of the best feelings in the world.

Everything changed when her CASA Coach got her out of a residential facility and into independent living. She finished high school, started working, and saved enough money to buy a car. Her next goal is becoming a veterinarian.
"My CASA worker served me and my son above and beyond expectations! Without her support and guidance, I don't know if I would have been able to be where I am today." Today, this father has been reunited with his son.
Celebrating PCASA Volunteers
Janet Stack named Ruth Stone Advocate of the Year
We love to celebrate our CASA Volunteers and their selfless dedication to kids in the foster care system. So on October 11, we had a gathering at the Meriwether Springs Vineyard & Brewery. Scores of Volunteers along with family members joined us for a delicious picnic of Mellow Mushroom pizza, salads from Feast, and MarieBette chocolate chunk cookies. We honored Volunteers who had been serving kids for 5, 10, and 15+ years. The highlight of the evening was when Piedmont CASA President Kate Duvall announced the Ruth Stone Advocate of the Year: Janet Stack. Janet has been an exemplary advocate since 2010. In those twelve years, she has served eleven boys and girls. In the above photo, Kate Duvall, who is standing on the far right, announces the award. Janet Stack is seated on the far left.

Kiwanis of Charlottesville
Kiwanis Club members came by on the evening of November 28 to help address envelopes for holiday cards - and they brought us festive and fragrant holiday greenery for our front door. Left to right: Bob Ribando, Jim Hart, Charlie Krizek, Eric Lamb, Dana Douglas, and Dennis Baugh. Thank you, Kiwanians! CASA Kids Need Kiwanis - and we are so glad to have them on our team!

Friends of CASA + the PCASA Board
Every day during the week of October 10-14, members of the Piedmont CASA Board and Friends of CASA stopped by the office to help personalize letters for the fall appeal. On Wednesday evening, they even had a Wine & Cheese & Write. When all was said and done, hundreds of letters had at least one personal hand-written note. This personal touch does make a difference. As one supporter wrote:
"I got my CASA letter yesterday and wanted you to know how much I enjoyed all the notes people wrote. It was a very warm feeling..."

The women of Kappa Alpha Theta-Delta Chi
| |
In early October, the busy women of Theta found time between exams and fall break to hand-address hundreds of envelopes for us. Thanks to their diligence, we were able to get our Fall Appeal out in good order and on time.
They did it again. Kappa Alpha Theta broke another record at this year's Waffle CASA - and raised $7,692 for Piedmont CASA. On September 28, Courtney Schoeb presented the check to Piedmont CASA President Kate Duvall.
