A NOTE FROM TEDDY
While it may have thrown off the rhythm of our usual service flow this Sunday, I really enjoyed our quiet moment towards the end of the service. I’d like to do it again this Sunday as well. After our wonderful visit with the woman at the well, the quiet just felt right. I hope you felt the same way.
I enjoyed it so much that I went into the sanctuary again this morning for some quiet time. In all the busyness of the week, sometimes I can forget or take for granted what a beautiful and holy space we have here. It is a perfect place to rest.
With that in mind, I want to extend an invitation to you all. If you find yourself in the area during the week or if you want to make a special trip down, give us a call at the church office. We will double check that no one is using the sanctuary and you can enjoy the quiet and worshipful space we call home each Sunday morning. So come early for bridge, stay a few minutes after book club, or just give us a call and come on by.
We have a perfect resource for spiritual rest right here. Let’s make sure and use it.
Teddy

Genesis 28:10-19a
Was That a Dream?
Rev. Teddy Ivey
This week we will discuss a part of rest that can be both fun and terrifying: dreaming. The Bible is full of God speaking through dreams, yet we tend to ignore our own dreams. Is there something there we can learn from in regard to our own dreams and God’s voice?

GOOD TIME HAD BY ALL!
Sunday, July 2nd, we worshipped and celebrated together in the Whitmire Pavilion for the holiday weekend. It was a great turn out and we want to extend a sincere thank you to all who helped set up, cook and clean up, especially Joan Bramblett and the Care and Connect team, the sabbatical planning committee, Jeff Moore, Leslie Lady, and Elizabeth Peterson.
In addition, we celebrated the more than 30 years of Jim and Marilyn Torbert's work serving from the kitchen at SSCC to the ends of the earth. They were honored with a plaque which will hang in the newly named Torbert Kitchen! Blessings upon them as they continue their ministry as a part of this community!

SSCC SECURITY UPDATE
In light of recent events at SSCC and other places of worship in the area, SSCC Trustees and Leadership have made the decision to immediately implement more formal security measures at our facility on Sunday mornings.
After many months of discussion and prayerful consideration, Leadership has requested The Sandy Springs Police Department station an officer on our grounds Sunday mornings from 9am – 12pm. The officer will be uniformed and in a marked Sandy Springs Police vehicle.
We realize that the presence of a police officer at SSCC may be unsettling to some and encourage you to direct any questions or concerns you may have
to Phil Leek, SSCC Trustee Chair via Cell 404-401-2942 or email: [email protected].

SABBATICAL LENDING LIBRARY
During Pastor Nathan's sabbatical we will be offering a lending library where people can check out books on faith and such.
If you would like to lend a book, simply write your name and phone number on the inside cover and place it in the Centrum on the credenza below the sabbatical poster. If you would like to check out a book, simply note the title and your name, and return it when you are finished reading it.
We intend this to offer an addition for reflection and information on our faith journeys during this time.

WORSHIP LEADERS NEEDED
Thank you to those who filled in our July need for Worship Leaders. We are now looking to fill the Worship Leader slots for upcoming worship services August 27th and beyond. The worship leader generally leads four parts of the worship service: a call to worship, the scripture reading, a call to giving and the welcome to visitors. Most of the parts are scripted for you, so there is nothing to prepare. However, those who feel comfortable are encouraged to use their creative license for the call to giving and welcome to our visitors.
We welcome families, couples, groups to participate as worship leaders. If you would like to give it a try, or have questions, please feel free to reach out to Amy at the church office. Click on the picture in the upper right or the button below to see the available dates.

RECYCLE OPTIONS
We want to keep you updated on our ongoing recycling opportunities here at SSCC. As you may or may not know we collect a variety of items for recycling and helping the local community.
- Vases - if you sponsored flowers on a given Sunday, and have no need for the vases they came in, please drop them off at the church office and we will recycle them with our florist, Flowers of Marietta. (Just the ones from our florist though, thank you!)
- Aluminum tabs - for Ronald McDonald house. Please place the tabs in zippered clear bags and place them in the cabinet under the Outreach board. (No steel tabs please).
- Cloth - of any kind that is clean and undonateable. Tshirts, old work clothes, torn items. Please place them in a bag marked "Reloom" and we will make sure they go to the right place.
- Sunday's Welcome Card in the bulletin - If you didn't fill it out, we can reuse them next week, saving not only trees, but money in copying costs. Thank you for your help!
