Horizon Honors Elementary School and Horizon Honors Secondary School have once again earned “A” letter grades from the Arizona Department of Education! These ratings reflect the schools’ continued commitment to academic excellence, student achievement, and providing a high-quality educational experience for all students.
Arizona’s A–F Letter Grade Accountability System evaluates schools using multiple measures of academic performance, including student proficiency and academic growth.
We are incredibly proud of our students, teachers, staff, and families for their continued dedication to excellence. These ratings reflect the hard work and commitment our schools demonstrate every day.
Congratulations to everyone at Horizon Honors on this outstanding achievement!

| | Thanks to your generous book donations, Horizon Honors was able to support two worthy causes. Last week, your new books were donated to the Phoenix Children's Hospital. Since many of those children have auto immune diseases some used books had to be excluded. But, they didn't go to waste! In November, the used books will be sent to schools in Manila, Philippines. Thank you for spreading kindness beyond the Horizon community! | | |
There are many reasons that your family might be running late for school; making sure everyone has their lunches, their homework, their teeth brushed, and their shoes on! It gets to the point where you ask yourself "does being late really matter?" especially in comparison to very inconvenient situations like car troubles, bad weather, or public transport delays. The truth is, it DOES matter but you may not understand why.
- If your child misses 10 minutes per day that equals 50 minutes per week which is nearly 1 1/2 weeks per year and over 13 years of school that is nearly 1/2 a year.
- If your child misses 20 minutes per day that equals 1 hour and 40 minutes per week which is nearly 2 1/2 weeks per year and over 13 years of school that is nearly 1 year.
- If your child misses 30 minutes per day that equals 1/2 a day per week which is nearly 4 weeks per year and over 13 years of school that is nearly 1 1/2 years.
- If your child misses 1 hour per day that equals 1 day per week which is nearly 8 weeks per year and over 13 years of school that is nearly 2 1/2 years.
Being late for school means your child could potentially be missing out on important learning. Arriving late also interrupts the flow of the class and is distracting to other students.
Whether the consequences are direct or indirect; chronic lateness is a bad habit that can cause issues for your child if it continues into adulthood. Learning the importance of being on time is an essential life skill.
