RUBY BRIDGES WALK TO SCHOOL DAY

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14

An annual day of dialogue to commemorate Ruby's historic steps.

Students will continue the conversation and take part in their own

forms of activism to bring an end to racism and all forms of bullying.

Next Thursday, November 14th, during PE Specials, our students will have an opportunity to be a part of our first annual Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. With the help of our amazing PE staff, our High School BSU, and our Elementary Student Council and No Place For Hate Coalition; we will be providing our students with important facts and reminders of how

to prevent racism and bullying from being a part of Horizon Honors and world.

The students will participate in various story walks as they interact with our student leaders and view books and images about Ruby's journey and how they can help to be upstanders and create change. Information will be going out in the eblast, but we would also love your help sending out information in your family newsletters and posting reminders in Google Classroom!

*Kinder we would love for you to join us at 9:25 with our 3-4 friends!

xoxo

Help Your Kids Express Their Emotions

Big Life Journal

By approaching your child's behavior with curiosity rather than frustration, you can uncover the real reasons behind their actions. This not only helps improve their behavior but also strengthens your connection with them, creating a supportive environment where they feel understood and valued.

Help Your Kids Express Their Emotions - Big Life Journal

Digital media and ongoing tech use continue to be at the center of our kids' lives. From TikTok to Instagram, our kids are distracted by their devices. What risks do these platforms pose for our kids? Join us as we explore trends in digital media and share practical strategies to share with families on how to manage cell phones and social media in today’s digital age.

Key topics we'll cover:

- Managing cell phone use and parental controls

- New research unpacking how social media impacts teens’ mental health

NATURAL HIGH 2024 IMPACT REPORT

For many students, Red Ribbon Week (RRW) is the only time they receive any substance abuse prevention education all year. Natural High is the top resource for most educators during RRW, and this year, they crafted an engaging lesson plan that takes students on a meaningful journey. It begins with Jon Sundt's inspiring video, followed by lessons on how their brains work.
