HORIZON HONORS HIGH SCHOOL IS

 "BEST" ONCE AGAIN!

We are proud to announce that once again Horizon Honors High School is a U.S. News "Best High School!"

  • #1,120 in National Rankings
  • #20 in Arizona High Schools
  • #13 in Phoenix, AZ Metro Area High Schools
  • #208 in National Charter High Schools

The U.S. News Best High Schools rankings include data on nearly 25,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Nearly 18,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.

This year’s rankings showcase the schools whose students demonstrate outstanding outcomes, including achieving high graduation rates, a U.S. News release said.

Congratulations to the entire Horizon Honors community for this award. All of our staff, students, and families contributed directly to this achievement. The drive of our students, the hard work of our teachers and staff, and the commitment from our families are the reason for this celebration!

Welcome to the Library!

Our Elementary students have all had a chance to visit the Media Center (Library)!

Kindergarten will visit once a week, they can check out 1 book at a time, from the Library. Teachers will send home books (book bag books) for homework as well. In Kindergarten they are learning about responsibility! When they return their book, they will get to choose a new one. Please help to find a SAFE place for library books, at home! Away from pets, babies, food and water!

1-2 students will visit the Library every week. They may check out 2 "Fun" books from the Library at a time. They will also be receiving a Literature (book bag) from their teacher. Please help keep Library books safe, clean and dry! 1-2 students are learning how to use a place saver on the shelves of the Library and placing books spine side out, if we return it to the shelves.

3-4 students will visit the Library every week. They may check out 2 "Fun" books from the Library at a time. They will also be receiving a Literature book from their teacher or from the Library.  We will be focusing on how to look up books on Destiny and find the books on the shelves. You are welcome to visit the Destiny website and see what we have available with your students at home as well.

5-6 students will visit the Library every other Friday. They may check out 2 "Fun" books from the Library at a time. They also may choose a Literature book from the Library. The students have been instructed that they may search Destiny and email the mediacenter@horizonhonors.org to change out books more often.

We have 3 staff members in the Media Center  Mindy DuetRuth Hughes and Barb Brady. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

MORNING MEETING PRESENTATION

Art Masterpiece is a national art enrichment program that uses reproductions of fine works of art to promote art literacy in children. Various artists are presented during the year to each classroom followed by a hands-on art project.

The Horizon Honors Elementary Art Masterpiece program is run by volunteers. No art knowledge or experience is needed or required to present or help with the classes. All projects are pre-planned and all art materials are provided. Most of the class time is spent with the children working on their art piece. All help is welcome. No experience necessary!
