THE CORNELL CASE: 6 IMPORTANT POINTS TO SHARE WITH TEENS ABOUT DRUGS & CONSENT

If you’re unfamiliar with the case, in a lawsuit filed this fall, a former Cornell student identified as Jane Doe says that in October 2024, at a campus fraternity house, she was given ketamine, cannabis, and alcohol and sexually assaulted by multiple men.

The case has led prosecutors to reopen their investigation and Cornell to respond by suspending fraternity parties for the rest of the academic year, among other measures.

I went to Cornell as an undergrad. What allegedly happened to Jane Doe during a night in 2024, involving seven males, is gut-wrenching… GUT-WRENCHING.

I have been following the case in detail. There are a slew of important topics the case brings up, but in today’s blog I focus primarily on drugs, such as ketamine, and on consent.

In the blog I share 6 points I strongly recommend you say to your tweens/teens, whether you talk about this case or about drugs and consent more broadly.
