EAGLE STATUE FACELIFT!

Horizon Honors High School Freshman Gavin Flusche has been working on his Boy Scout Eagle Project for eight months. His chosen project, to refurbish the Eagle Statue in the High School Courtyard, took 128+ hours of volunteer time! Gavin managed 20 volunteers over the planning process, with 17 volunteers (primarily Boy Scouts) physically working on the project over a 4-day period during Winter Break.

Gavin chose to refurbish the eagle as his project because he wanted to give back to Horizon Honors. Gavin loves the fact that the founder of our school, Larry Pieratt, was an Eagle Scout.

For over 20 years the mascot has been in the courtyard and over time needed an update. He thought it would be cool to renew our mascot and in doing so boost school pride.

Thank you, Gavin!

CLASS OF 2024 REMINDERS:

GRADUATION CEREMONY VIDEOS:

A tradition at Horizon Honors graduation ceremonies is to have each senior honored through a speaker who has been meaningful to his or her life. In order to continue this tradition, families are asked to submit congratulatory videos which are shown segments throughout graduation. We do not have any special guest speakers at graduation – YOU are the special guest!

Please read through this entire document so you are aware of what’s expected, and can discuss your student’s preferences.  Note that there are changes from previous years.

Filming Requirements: (Please note that if your video does not meet requirements, we will contact you so you have the opportunity to make necessary changes. All videos must be submitted no later than March 8, 2024.)

Length:                  30 seconds or less.  NO EXCEPTIONS. Videos longer than 30 seconds will be returned.

Content:                Speakers may recall a memory, read a quote, say a few nice words, or talk about future ambitions to encourage the senior. Creativity and humor are often included. We do not allow music or content with foul language, drugs or alcohol references, sexual references, or nudity.

Formats:               MOV, .MPG (MPEG-1), .AVI (DV-AVI), and .WMA. If you need to convert your file, there are many free video converters. I suggest Handbrake, which you can download here.

Dimensions:         3840 pixels x 2160 pixels

Quality:                 Please create the video in 2160p (4K video quality.) Be aware of background noise, distance from the camera, and voice clarity & volume. If you cannot hear a speaker clearly, we cannot use the video. Please review your video before sending to ensure it looks and sounds exactly how you want it to.

Submissions:        Video submissions must be one file; we will not edit or compile videos.

Information:           When sending the file, include the graduate's name and the first & last names of all the speakers.

Deadline:              Files must be shared with Mrs. Britt on or before Friday, March 8, 2024.
