FALL MAP TESTING
Secondary students will be taking MAP tests during their CCR, DC Tech and SLab classes from August 24th through September 4th. MAP is a computer-adaptive test that measures your student's learning level and academic growth in math, reading, language and science. Unlike traditional tests, it adjusts its difficulty based on your student's answers - becoming more challenging when answered correctly and easier when they struggle. This allows us to find your student's exact learning baseline.
How you can help at home:
- Arrive to school on time
- Ensure a good night's sleep
- Provide a healthy breakfast
- Keep it stress free - encourage your students to simply do their best and remind them that this test is just a tool to help their teachers help them learn.
We appreciate your partnership in making this a positive and stress-free experience for our students. Please reach out to your student's teacher if you have any specific questions about the upcoming schedule.

Cosponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) - often shortened to PSAT - is a standardized test targeting 10th and 11th graders in the U.S.. One of the test's primary purposes is to act as a precursor to the SAT - as the name suggests, as an SAT practice test. Thus, the PSAT and SAT heavily mirror each other in regard to content, structure, and even scoring.

| FROM OFFICER MARTIN: E-BIKES, SCOOTERS & MOTOR CYCLES | |
As electric-powered personal transportation becomes increasingly popular in Phoenix, riders must understand the laws that apply to electric bikes (e-bikes), electric scooters (e-scooters) and motor-driven cycles.
The Phoenix Police Department reminds all users that these vehicles are not toys—they’re governed by specific laws and ordinances to keep everyone safe on our streets and sidewalks.
It is the goal of the Department to educate the community on the regulations and safety concerns of these popular modes of transportation. Laws in the surrounding cities may vary.
1. Electric Bicycles (PCC 36-500-514)
- Fully operable pedals and an electric motor.
- Phoenix City Code 36-504: Electric bicycles are prohibited on sidewalks.
- Phoenix City Code 36-510: Electric bicycle age – 16 years old minimum.
2. Electric Scooters (PCC 36-300-313)
- 2 or 3 wheels, handlebars, floorboard, and an electric motor.
- Electric scooters are prohibited on sidewalks.
- Electric scooter age – 16 years old minimum.
3. Motor Driven Cycle (ARS 28-101.48)
- Treated the same as a motorcycle per Title 28 of the Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS).
- General Traffic Laws: All traffic laws apply. License, Registration, and Insurance are required. Subject to ARS 28-3511 Tow with Supervisor approval.
- ARS 28-904 Driving on sidewalk: A person shall not drive a vehicle on a sidewalk.
