OUR LETTER GRADE IS IN!

Horizon Honors Elementary School and Horizon Honors Secondary School have once again earned “A” letter grades from the Arizona Department of Education! These ratings reflect the schools’ continued commitment to academic excellence, student achievement, and providing a high-quality educational experience for all students.

Arizona’s A–F Letter Grade Accountability System evaluates schools using multiple measures of academic performance, including student proficiency and academic growth.

We are incredibly proud of our students, teachers, staff, and families for their continued dedication to excellence. These ratings reflect the hard work and commitment our schools demonstrate every day.

2027-2028 ENROLLMENT NOW OPEN!

Horizon Honors families, help us spread the word! Enrollment applications for the 2027–2028 school year are now being accepted, and we encourage you to share the news with friends, neighbors, and family members who may be looking for an exceptional school experience!

• Virtual Information Sessions: Held during the week of November 9th and tailored for NEW Horizon Honors families. Learn about our schools, our programs, and the enrollment process. Sign up for a session at the bottom of this webpage!
• New Student Lottery Deadline: Submit an enrollment application by Monday, December 7th at 12 PM to be included in the lottery for the 2027–2028 school year. Complete the interest form HERE to get started.
• Interested in Pre-K? Pre-K at Horizon Honors will host an Open House on Tuesday, November 17, 2026! Families interested in our private preschool program are invited to learn more and explore what we have to offer. Learn more and sign up for the Pre-K Open House HERE!

REMINDER: SIBLING ENROLLMENT FOR 2027-2028 SCHOOL YEAR

• To receive sibling priority in the 2027-2028 New Student Lottery, parents with new students who are siblings of current Horizon Honors students must complete the Enrollment Application by noon on Monday, December 7, 2026. 
• Siblings who do not have a completed Enrollment Application by the deadline may be placed on a waitlist. 
• Current Horizon Honors students do not need to reapply.

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY UPDATE

Last week NJHS students went to the Colten Cowell Foundation to learn about being a good volunteer and all about philanthropy. For our participation, they earned $10,000 to use for our NJHS HopeKids Holiday Party! Look out for details on our Toy Drive coming soon!

WINTER SPORTS PAPERWORK DUE WEDNESDAY!

To begin the Athletics registration process and review requirements, students must register with Aktivate at aktivate.com. If you have already registered for a Fall sport, you will need to log back into Aktivate and select the Winter Sport you would like to participate in. Forms are due November 4th, Tryouts begin November 9th.

• Co-ed Cheer
• Boys Volleyball
• Girls Flag Football

Please note that a sports physical is required BEFORE tryouts along with all the required sports paperwork. If you need assistance, please call 480-659-3000 and ask for the Athletic Department.

CHEER TRYOUTS START NOVEMBER 9!

Middle School Cheer Try-Outs are coming up soon!

Where: Middle School Courtyard

Dates: 
Monday, November 9 @ 3:30 - 5 PM
Tuesday, November 10 @ 3:30 - 5 PM
Thursday, November 12 @ 3:30 - 5 PM
Friday, November 13 @ 3:30 - 4:30 PM

Athletes should show up to the Middle School Courtyard at 3:15 PM, in athletic clothing (nothing baggy), and cheer shoes or athletic sneakers.

Hair needs to be pulled back, and all jewelry needs to be removed. 

You will learn a Cheer, Dance, Jumps, and Stunts during the week, with final Try-Out Evaluations on Friday.

STAFF APPRECIATION MEETING THIS TUESDAY!

Join the committee that shows the Horizon Honors Staff how much they are appreciated. The Staff Appreciation Committee's next meeting is Tuesday, November 3rd at 8:15 AM in the Media Center and welcome anyone interested in joining them.

OUR FAMILY AI AGREEMENT FOR KIDS AND TEENS

While interviewing teens and parents for our new film, Lisa, my co-director, and I found that many families aren't having conversations about guardrails for AI use.

And I totally get why. It is hard to figure out how to establish rules and policies at home when AI is on so many devices.

That's why I'm excited to share our Family AI Agreement. It's a framework for discussing the hot-button issues surrounding AI chatbots and tools, from interacting with chatbots as friends to turning to AI for emotional support and advice.
