Students cannot receive delivered food or drinks from anyone other than their parents/guardian or a designated emergency contact person. Food or drinks delivered from a delivery service may not be accepted and the student may not receive the food/drink. Any food delivered to the school needs to occur during the lunch period and be pre-arranged between the student and parent or emergency contact person

Classes will not be interrupted for lunch deliveries. The school offices are not responsible for storing and delivering lunches. Please note there is not a lunch time on early release days.

MAP TESTING STARTS MONDAY

This is a reminder that MAP testing will take place starting Monday, January 26th, through Friday, February 6th. MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessments help us better understand each student’s academic growth and guide instruction to best support their learning. Students will complete testing during their DC Tech, CCR, or SLAB.

To help your child do their best, please encourage them to:

  • Get a good night’s sleep
  • Eat a healthy breakfast
  • Arrive to school on time

If you have any questions about MAP testing or your child’s testing schedule, please feel free to reach out to Jenny Boyd.

CROSS COUNTRY UPDATE!

Cross Country has had a great start to the season since returning from winter break. The team has competed in two meets, and many athletes are consistently improving their times with each race. Sebastian Olsson has placed first in every meet this season, and Leighton Didion and Rachel Spresney have also delivered strong performances with top-10 finishes. It’s been an exciting season so far, and we’re looking forward to finishing strong in the final two meets!

THE RESET: A NATIONAL DAY TO STEP AWAY FROM SCREENS

This Saturday, January 24th, is a special day: The Reset, organized by Outward Bound USA, with some wonderful minds helping to build it and many organizations, including Screenagers, making up the Support Coalition.

It’s a day to step away from screens and do something outdoors. Let me explain what this day is about, and at the end of today’s blog, I’ll share why Outward Bound holds a special place in my heart.

2026 is the first year The Reset is launching as a national movement, with the goal of helping “young people live healthier, more connected lives through time outdoors and balanced digital habits.”

What can one day unplugged outside really do? A lot. One day outside, without screens, offers a conscious experience of what we sacrifice when we spend our days immersed in technology.

Time in nature, whether simply being outside the home, walking in fresh air, spending time in a park, or sitting by a river, has been linked to both short- and long-term benefits for mental, emotional, and physical health.

Read today’s blog for tips on how to join us for The Reset this Saturday, January 24th.
