WEEKLY EBLAST -- 2/6/26

ABSENCE PROCEDURE REMINDERS

When a student needs to be absent, parents should e-mail attendance@horizonhonors.org before 9 a.m. each day the student is absent. State law mandates that the school record a reason for all student absences. This greatly reduces the need to call you at work or home to confirm the absence. When e-mailing, please give the child’s name (with spelling), date of absence, grade level and reason for absence, along with a telephone number where you can be reached in case of questions. The absence will be unexcused if no reason is given within 24 hours of the absence.

LATE ARRIVAL & LEAVING EARLY

Any time a student arrives after the official start time, the student and parent are required to sign-in at the front desk. Students risk loss of credit in courses when they are absent more than 10 days in a semester or if they miss a significant amount of instruction (at least 1/4 of class) due to late arrival. To excuse a late arrival, a parent must sign a student in with the reason or e-mail within 24 hours. Parents picking up students early from school are required to report to the front desk and sign the student out. This includes students of driving age. Only a parent or adult designee (age 18 or over) with valid ID who is listed as an emergency contact in PowerSchool may sign a student out of school. Essential instruction occurs during all school hours. Habitual excused or unexcused late arrivals or early dismissals may result in loss of course credit and/or failure to be promoted to the next grade level (Policy JH).
