WEEKLY EBLAST -- 3/20/26

STATE TESTING STARTS MARCH 30

It’s the final countdown! This is a reminder that State Testing

begins on March 30th.

HERE is the Spring 2026 State Testing  Schedule. Please note the start dates and times for your student according to grade level. Students may not be on campus before their late start times each day.

On testing days classes will begin at either 9:40 AM or 10:40 AM. There is one lunch on testing days served around the same time as students’ normal lunch time.

Please make sure that your student has a set of wired headphones/ear buds for testing. Certain sections of the AASA and AZSci do allow them. If your student does not have earbuds, they can be purchased in the front office for $2. In addition, students may use their own calculators for the following tests and according to the policies below. The computer based testing does have a built-in calculator for students as well.

  • AASA (7th & 8th Grade) (Scientific for Math Unit 1 Only)
  • AZSci (8th Grade & 11th Grade) (Scientific calculator permitted)
  • ACT Aspire (9th Grade) and ACT (11th Grade) (4 function, Scientific and Graphing

We are looking forward to two successful weeks of testing!

FEELING BIG FEELINGS: TWO STRATEGIES TO HELP KIDS COPE WITHOUT SCREENS

Yesterday, I released a new podcast episode featuring two wonderful doctors who helped start the AAP's Center of Excellence on Social Media and Youth Mental Health, Megan Moreno, MD, and Jenny Radesky, MD. They shared great pointers about how to make workable screen time rules and more.

Research from Dr. Radesky and others has found that when parents turn to screens to calm their kids, it can hinder children's ability to manage their hard emotions on their own. But knowing that doesn't always make it easier in the moment.

In today's blog, I share two practical strategies from Dr. Radesky that can help. One is for helping kids name and process their feelings, and one is for expanding your village of support so you and your kids can thrive in our digital world.
