GRADE "A" SCHOOL - AZ DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
8th GRADE
HUMAN GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT
Human Growth and Development is part of the 8th Grade science curriculum that will be delivered between November 29th and December 8th this year.

8th Grade parents received an email that outlined more details and included the parent permission required for students to participate in this program.

There will be an informational parent meeting to discuss the curriculum on Wednesday, October 27th from 6:00 - 7:00 PM in room 122. We look forward to seeing you.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Searching for a select group of fun, energetic, knowledgeable, and reliable students to serve as Orientation Guides for prospective students. An Orientation Guide's primary goals are to introduce prospective students to the current students and teachers on campus in order to help provide a positive perspective about Horizon Honors. Duties include mentoring new students, answering questions, leading students around campus, providing tours, and facilitating discussions. You will receive community service credit!
Qualifications and Expectations
  • Current 7th – 11th graders in good standing.
  • Strong communication skills, patience, sound judgment, and professionalism.
  • Highly motivated, with strong leadership skills, and the ability to work well with individuals and groups of people.
 
Position Responsibilities & Duties
  • Welcome prospective students to the school.
  • Be accessible and willing to assist prospective students.
  • Develop a positive rapport with prospective students.
  • Educate students about school expectations by explaining policies and procedures like the dress code.
  • Lead campus tours for students and families.
  • Guide students through a typical day at Horizon.
  • Attend & fully participate in orientation guide training.
  • Remain flexible at all times.
  • Conduct engaging individual and small group conversations with new students at lunch.
 
If you are interested in becoming an Orientation Guide, applications will be
available for pick up in the office beginning Monday, October 25th.
Submission deadline is Friday, Nov. 5, 2021.

GO EAGLES SPORTS UPDATES
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL SILVER TEAM
SEPTEMBER 24th: The MS Volleyball Silver team won against Fountain Hills in 3 sets 25-13, 23-25 and 15-8. Aliyah Williams led the team in serves followed by Kennedy Harbertson both serving 90% and above. Isabella Crandall kept the team going with her passing with almost 90% accuracy. Aliyah Williams had 15 kills followed by Makenna Bizzack with 10. 
OCTOBER 14th: The girls had a tough loss in their next match against Valley Christian losing 16-25 and 13-25. The team had some great rallies but too many errors gave Valley the advantage. Serving for the Eagles overall was 90%! Makenna Bizzack led the team in passing and kills.
Overall, the team is making great strides and continues to work hard during practices.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL BLUE TEAM
OCTOBER 14th: The MS Blue Girl’s volleyball team won their match in 3 games against Valley Christian. The team passed well as a team. Ava Bobesku, Kayli Noonan, and Amie Murray served well for the Eagles.ssful season.

Key Club is collecting new or gently used clothing and shoes for the Kyrene Family Resource Center. Donations may be dropped off directly to KFRC or brought to the Horizon Honors Media Center!


Community Service hours will be issued for any help!
