The 2016-17 Board of Directors has news! Gerry Walsh is joining Sheila Caplis, George Czerwionka, and Kathy Kingston on the Executive Board as Horizon's new Vice President. We also welcome Sawsan Abuosbie and Hector Hernandez as new members of the Board, welcome back Brenda Bokowski after a short hiatus from the Board, and wish Michael Meyer success in his new role as Horizon's Operations Manager. Last but not least, we thank Jim Novalinski and John Lee for their contributions to the Board over the last few years; we'll miss you at the meetings!

Horizon Highlight: Jeff Connett
Jeff Connett first heard about Horizon through the Flynn Family, who are close friends. Jeff and his family would often come to visit the Flynn's at camp on Visitors' Day. His daughters Kayla and Marissa have been attending camp for the past several years. This past year was Jeff's second year at camp.

Although Jeff just recently started attending camp, he has been a supporter of Horizon for quite some time. For years he has tried to help bring in donations and grants to support camp. This year, he presented Horizon a $5,000 dollar grant from UPS, which he was able to obtain with the help of some of his partners at work.
Outside of Horizon, Jeff is a technology manager at UPS, where he has worked for the past 30 years. He has been married to his wife, Mary, for 27 years. They started dating when she was a junior and he was a senior in high school. His older daughter, Kayla, is 21 and a senior at Illinois State University, majoring in Special Education. His younger daughter, Marissa, is 18 and a freshman at Illinois State University, also majoring in Special Education.
Giving Tuesday Join The Global Movement
Tuesday, November 29 is #GivingTuesday. Giving Tuesday is the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. The day is dedicated to giving to organizations. Since its founding in 2012, #GivingTuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that bring about real change in communities.

This year Horizon is not asking for a monetary donation like many other charities. Horizon's goal for Giving Tuesday is to share our story with more people than ever. To do this we would like you to share our new video with all of your friends in the hope that they will follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

Tips For Selling Year Long Raffle Tickets
Do you need some fresh ideas for selling your raffle tickets this year? We always recommend asking family members to purchase tickets during the holidays, but try sharing your camp story on social media along with mentioning your raffle tickets. Try asking a local bar that you are a patron at if you can set up a table to sell tickets to their guests one night. Get your tickets in by December 31 to ensure they're in the first drawing. For questions contact the Raffle Committee.
