As 2016 comes to a close, Horizon is already planning for Summer Camp 2017!  The Board of Directors would like to invite you to this year's Annual Meeting on Sunday, October 23rd to learn more about our organization, our board, and our committees. For more information, contact Sheila Caplis
Horizon Highlight: Joel Rodriguez

Joel Rodriguez heard about Horizon through friends who started coming to camp after the age limit for MDA camp was lowered. Joel attended his first Horizon Camp in 2012 and has been coming back ever since. "Five years going strong and I don't plan to miss camp any time soon." Every year, the thing Joel looks forward to the most about camp is the camaraderie and the loving environment. "It's one week out of the year where we get together to just be."

Joel has made several contributions to Horizon over the past five years. In 2013, he was able to get the company he worked for, Q Transport, to make a donation to Horizon. They also came to show off their private ride service during the week. This past year, helped design the 25th anniversary logo.

Outside of Horizon, Joel likes to stay busy. He works at his father's preschool and enjoys playing power soccer, hanging out with friends and family, and working on music in his free time. In November, Joel will be performing with The Hypocrites in his first professional musical, Cinderella at the Theater of the Potatoes, at The Den Theater in Wicker Park. The show starts November 12, 2016 and runs through January 8, 2017.

Buffalo Wild Wings in October!
We have three fundraising opportunities this month at Buffalo Wild Wings. On October 10th, locations in Berwyn, Crystal Lake, Mount Prospect, Schaumburg, Skokie, and Willowbrook will be accepting special coupons that will allow a portion of your dining bill to go to Horizon. The Chicago Ridge Buffalo Wild Wings will honor coupons on October 21st and 22nd. Print the coupon for the location you'll be dining at and show it to your server when you order. This is a fun opportunity to gather friends for a fun meal.
