What do we do in the months after camp? We start raising money for next year's camp. This fall we are lucky enough to have several organizations hosting fundraisers for us as well as a few of our own members stepping up and running their own events. There are many fun outings planned and we are sure you can find one or two to attend. Saturday, September 10th, Jessica Janes-Crowley and Metal Monkey Brewing are kicking off the fall fundraising events in Romeoville with brewery tours and raffles. There is also still time to purchase an event ticket for the Batch Match Amateur Home Brew Challenge, hosted by Mancation on September 17th in Yorkville.

Horizon Highlight: Meggie McDonald
|
Meggie McDonald started attending Horizon Camp in 2007 after her good friend Mimi Nora recommended it to her. "I am so glad Mimi introduced me to Horizon because of the awesome camp family I have made." Meggie loves getting to meet new friends and catching up with old friends. "
I always look forward to the stories and laughter I share with my cabin at the end of a long day at camp."
Over the years, Meggie has formed a special bond with Peggy Noble Ryan. They have been paired up several times and have developed a close friendship. During the year Meggie often visits Peggy to catch up on life. "Camp has a special way of bringing people of all ages and abilities together."
Outside of Horizon, Meggie is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. "Camp has taught me how to support and empower people of all abilities and I love that I am starting a profession that gets to do just that."
