Connect With HWMS

We are already a little over halfway into the first quarter and our Hornets are still growing strong. Students and teachers are working together to create engaged learning experiences both on campus and for our #HornetsAtHome.

Changing Your Learning Model
OCPS recently sent home a message to all families about changing your child's learning model for the 2nd nine weeks. We are asking our Hornet PARENTS to complete google form below by THIS Friday, September 18th. This is ONLY if you want to change your student's current learning modality. Majority of our teachers and students are separated by Face to Face or LaunchEd instruction. Therefore, by changing your child's learning modality, this MAY require a schedule and/or teacher change. This change will take place at the start of the 2nd nine weeks on October 13th.

Progress Reports
First quarter progress reports were distributed earlier this week. Please take time to review your child's report card with them.  Be sure to celebrate their success and encourage continued academic achievement.  Simple words of encouragement can be very powerful in helping students stay focused and motivated.  If your child is not doing well, then take time to talk about what he or she needs to do in order to get on track.  There is still time between now and the end of the quarter. Communication with your student as well as their teacher is imperative to their success. If you need more ideas on how you can help your child succeed, please contact your grade level school counselor. However, when it comes to grades please remember that open communication with your child's teacher is the first line of protocol.

We wish all our Hornets a wonderful weekend and continued success as we get closer to the end of this quarter.

Sincerely,

Michelle Thomas

Face-to-Face Students and Masksfacetofacemasks

Parents of Face-to-Face Students,

Please make sure that your Hornets are coming to school each day with a clean mask. Disposable masks should be disposed of nightly and not re-used. Reusable cloth masks need to be cleaned and sanitized daily. Also, it is a good idea to always pack a second mask as a back up.
