Summer 2016
New Learning Model
Students were introduced to Project Based Learning (PBL).
PBL allows students to gain a deeper knowledge of subject matter through active, hands-on, topical research plus guided discovery of solutions to real-world challenges and problems.
Eighteen PBL projects were completed with topics ranging from the Olympics to building math-based board games.

A note from Rohan:
Joining Horizons at Harley is a great way to start the New Year! I look forward to working with you in 2017 to support summer learning in Rochester.
I moved to Rochester last year from Albany, where I helped run Parks & Trails New York's Cycle the Erie Canal, an 8-day, 400-mile bike tour to close the gaps in the Erie Canalway Trail, and served as a grassroots organizer and community liaison in progressive politics. I grew up in the Hudson Valley and am excited about food, film, photography, and cycling.
